DONEGAL BOSTON GFC RAISE $8,160 FOR PLAYERS FUND

first_imgBOSTON-BASED DONEGAL FANS AT THE FUNDRAISER FOR THE COUNTY TEAMFROM MAJELLA McFADDEN IN BOSTON: It was a sea of green and yellow in The Centre Bar last Sunday as Boston’s Donegal community got together in support of the Donegal team training fund.In a bar draped with Donegal flags and banners the day’s events kicked off with a nostalgic screening of the 1992 All-Ireland final. That was followed by music from a member of the Boston Police Pipe Band, whose family hail from Killybegs!! Afterwards an auction took place where a boat trip for eight and a signed Donegal jersey were up for grabs to the highest bidder.Last but not least was the raffle for two of the most sought after tickets in all of Boston (not to mention Donegal, Australia, New York, Canada…!)The event, which included live music, food, a D.J., and Irish dancers, raised $8,160 for the team training fund. This could not have been achieved without the hard work of Paul Friel, originally from Urris (& assistant secretary for Donegal GFC Boston) and Declan Houton originally from Malin and member of the well-known Boston band “Devri”. The Inishowen men left nothing out and those from Donegal who cannot be at home on All-Ireland day felt happy to be a part of something that will help bring Sam back to the hills.Paul and Declan would like to extend their thanks to all who came out and supported the fundraiser and helped in any way, including ticket sellers Marie and Mickey Kelly, the Milton Chief of police, Richard Wells, for overseeing the draw and as always to Tony and his hardworking staff in The Centre Bar, Dorchester.Winner of two tickets to the All-Ireland final, Linda Doherty Gill, Clonmany.DONEGAL BOSTON GFC RAISE $8,160 FOR PLAYERS FUND was last modified: September 18th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:160 FOR PLAYERS FUNDDONEGAL BOSTON GFC RAISE $8last_img
