Entertainment awards shows have seen their schedules revised numerous times in recent years because of circumstances beyond their control. With a keen eye on the Caribbean storm forecast, MTV decided against postponement or cancellation of the Video Music Latin America Awards, instead pushing the production up from Thursday to tonight. That put everyone in high gear, from performers and the production crew to security personnel and satellite coordinators. Travel bookers also were rejiggering itineraries into and out of Playa del Carmen on Mexico’s east coast. “This decision was not taken lightly, as it is extremely difficult to move a show of such magnitude to an earlier date on such short notice,” said Pierluigi Gazzolo, managing director of MTV Networks Latin America. “However, the safety and well-being of everybody involved in the show takes precedence, and we’re confident that the amazing talent and expertise that characterize our staff and crews will make this sudden change possible, and we’ll have a great event.” last_img
