After years of work and wondering where it is all going to end up, this is a great experience in my life,” said Tony Bennett. As an advocate for civil rights, Mr. Bennett marched with Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, and he refused to perform in South Africa during the apartheid era. A dedicated humanitarian, Mr. Bennett has raised millions of dollars for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Council’s decision to end the sanctions set out in resolution 1171 of 1998 comes just weeks after the Government of Sierra Leone requested that the measures be lifted. In a unanimously adopted resolution, the 15-member body recalled its readiness to terminate the measures “once the control of the Government of Sierra Leone has been fully re-established over all its territory, and when all non-governmental forces have been disarmed and demobilized.”In a separate decision, the Council extended the mandate of the Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL) for another year, until 15 September 2011.Established in 2008 to continue UN efforts to boost peace in the West African nation, the Office is tasked with providing political advice, as well as monitoring and promoting human rights, and helping to train national police and security forces and strengthen democratic institutions. The Council decided that UNIPSIL, in the upcoming year, under the so-called Joint Vision of the UN system, should focus on assisting the Government with preparations for the 2012 elections, conflict prevention and mitigation, efforts to tackle youth unemployment, and promoting good governance, the rule of law and human rights, among other areas. It also called on the Government, with the support of UNIPSIL, and others to step up efforts to combat corruption, improve accountability, and promote the development of the private sector to generate wealth and employment opportunities. In his latest report on UNIPSIL, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon cited youth unemployment as one of the biggest hurdles facing the country, noting that “immense challenges” remain in generating jobs for young people, especially in the current economic climate. He called for international investment to help tackle a situation in which some 800,000 young people are currently unemployed, employed without remuneration or underemployed. 29 September 2010The Security Council today lifted the arms embargo and other sanctions it imposed on Sierra Leone more than 12 years ago during the civil war that left at least 75,000 people dead and many more maimed. read more

The Ohio State men’s volleyball team swept the weekend at St. John Arena with wins against Carthage College and conference foe Ball State to improve to an 11-4 record on the season. A rowdy Carthage team brought an arsenal of choreographed chants with them Sunday afternoon. Led by sophomore outside hitter Tyler Parks, the Red Men cheered in chorus after every point they scored and danced during timeouts. The antics failed to shake the Buckeyes who took the Red Men in four sets. “(Carthage) was a match where we wanted to build some momentum coming off of Friday’s performance to get better to go into this coming Thursday and Saturday,” said OSU coach Pete Hanson. Despite a victory for his team, Hanson was dissatisfied with the amount of errors in the match. “You just can’t play like that, make those kinds of errors and play uninspired volleyball, no matter who the opponent is,” he said. OSU led the first set, 4-3, until two consecutive errors from senior opposite Shawn Sangrey put Carthage ahead. The Red Men held onto that advantage and took set one, 18-25. Carthage started the second set strong with a four-point lead. The Buckeyes recovered and the score tied 10 times in an effort to pull ahead. At 17 all, a five-point run gave OSU the edge it needed to close the set 25-21. Junior outside hitter Nick Gibson scored on two kills and a block to aid in the crucial drive. “It was a little bit of a longer battle than we wanted,” Gibson said. “You can make statements in different ways, whether it’s in three games or four.” The score in the third set stayed within two points with both teams exchanging the lead. At 15-17, Sangrey’s kill and service ace contributed to four straight points for OSU. Set point came for the Buckeyes on a service error by sophomore right side Pat Barry. Senior middle blocker Matt Yanz’s kill sailed out of bounds to give OSU the set, 25-18. OSU took a quick five-point lead in the final set, 10-5, after a service ace from Gibson and a kill by senior outside hitter Mik Berzins. The Red Men were unable to catch up and the Buckeyes took the set 25-16. Berzins described Carthage as “a team that will sneak up on you.” “They played with a lot of intensity and are a really top-notch team,” Berzins said. OSU swept the Ball State Cardinals in three sets in their Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match Friday night. Sangrey recorded a match-high 13 kills. Junior middle blocker Grayson Overman and senior outside hitter Anthony Hock added seven apiece. Junior outside attacker Larry Wrather led the Cardinals offensively with 10 kills and 11.5 points. Wrather and Hock both tallied six digs for their teams. The Buckeyes watched as an attack from junior setter Elias Aparcedo arched over the net and landed out of bounds to end the first set, 25-15. In an attempt to keep the second set alive, Wrather leaped over the Cardinals’ bench between two coaches to retrieve a ball hit wide. Junior outside hitter Mike Stefani was credited with the service ace and the set ended, 25-22. The third set, 25-17, included four more Buckeye service aces and only three errors. OSU will be on the road this week with conference matches in Romeoville and Chicago, Ill. The Buckeyes will face the No. 7-ranked Lewis University Flyers Thursday and the No. 14-ranked Loyola-Chicago Ramblers Saturday. Both matches are set to begin at 7 p.m. read more

Marjorie Kamys Cotera/TexasTribuneGroup gathered from all around Texas and marched to the Governor’s Mansion to show their support for DACA and DAPAA coalition of civil and immigrant rights groups on Friday asked an appeals court to stop a federal judge’s order that requires the Obama administration to turn over the confidential information of thousands of undocumented immigrants. The filing in the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals by the National Immigration Law Center, the American Civil Liberties Union Immigrants’ Rights Project and the ACLU of Texas is on behalf of four undocumented immigrants, including two Texans. The immigrants say they are nothing more than pawns in a political game whose privacy will be breached if the order stands. The petition is in response to a mandate issued May 19 by U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen of Brownsville. Hanen concluded that the Obama administration intentionally misled his court during the trial over the president’s controversial 2014 executive action on immigration, known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, or DAPA. An expanded version of a 2012 action, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, was also included in the suit, although the original 2012 action was not.Hanen said the administration’s attorneys knowingly misrepresented facts about when applications for the program were accepted and how many undocumented immigrants benefited prematurely from the program by receiving three-year work permits under the preceding 2012 program. In response, Hanen ordered the department to turn over the names, addresses and immigration information of about 50,000 immigrants. Hanen ordered that the information be turned over next week. He also ordered the government’s attorneys who want to practice in the 26 states that filed suit to take ethics classes. “With these outrageous demands, Judge Hanen has unfairly and unnecessarily dragged a group of blameless individuals into this politically driven lawsuit, potentially compromising their privacy and safety with no legal justification,” Karen Tumlin, the National Immigration Law Center’s legal director, told reporters during a conference call. Texas and 16 other states sued the Obama administration in December 2014 after the executive action was announced; eight others eventually joined.Hanen ultimately halted the executive action, and his decision was upheld twice by the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. It has meandered all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which is expected to rule this month on whether the program can begin. If nothing else, Tumlin added, the groups are asking the Fifth Circuit to put Hanen’s order on hold until after a decision has been rendered.“With these outrageous demands, Judge Hanen has unfairly and unnecessarily dragged a group of blameless individuals into this politically driven lawsuit, potentially compromising their privacy and safety with no legal justification.”— Karen Tumlin, the National Immigration Law Center’s legal directorFriday’s filing comes after the Department of Justice filed its own request Tuesday for Hanen to halt his own order while the decision is being appealed. The attorneys for the undocumented immigrants said they filed their own request directly to the Fifth Circuit because they are not parties in the original suit and because there is a time factor to consider.“There’s just not enough time to really get relief in any other way except through a petition like this one,” said Omar Jadwat, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project. This article originally appeared in The Texas Tribune at http://www.texastribune.org/2016/06/03/civil-rights-groups-ask-appeals-court-block-judges/. Iowa is still ‘The Fake I.D of College Football’Iowa is back at the player’s club, trying to sneak into with the same tired fake I.D they had last year. While most real powerhouses schedule at least one heavyweight matchup on the front end of their schedule, Iowa refuses to schedule any tough out of conference games. This year, Kirk Ferentz dialed up the murderer’s row of North Texas and Wyoming.Colin is sick of Iowa fans screaming for a seat at the big boy table with a fraudulent resume. Last year they lost at home to North Dakota State. You know who is scheduling tough games? Jim Harbaugh. You’re the same fan base that demands I include you in Rose Bowl talk, but you’ve lost 5 straight bowl games. Do you know why you’ve lost 5-straight bowl games? Because you get into bowls you didn’t earn because you’re the Fake I.D of college football.Deshaun Watson is the #1 quarterback in this year’s NFL DraftEvery year, the NFL pre-draft process sends prospects rocketing up NFL Draft boards based on workout performances, while proven talents get picked apart because they don’t test out well. No other position has a history of risers and fallers like quarterback. The pre-draft process determined that Alex Smith was better than Aaron Rodgers, and dropped Derek Carr to the second round.Recent rumors report that the Browns are considering drafting North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Colin isn’t buying it.Colin still thinks Deshaun Watson is the best quarterback in the class, and he doesn’t think it’s close. Watson is getting picked apart in the draft process, but Colin pointed out that his college numbers compare favorably to Russell Wilson. Watson has played his best on the biggest stage, and he’s not the first quarterback to throw a bunch of picks in college. So did Jameis Winston, and he was still the #1 pick after amassing a high interception total.Trubisky, on the other hand, has all the red flags of a bust. One year starter. Didn’t play well against his best competition. Brian Kelly thinks Kizer needs another year in school. Watson’s thinks he’s Michael Jordan.“I got footage. I got stats. I got comparables. I got maturity. He’s gonna drop behind Mitch Trubisky and DeShone Kizer. I don’t get it.”Staying for a second year in college hoops is better than being a one-and-done in the D-LeagueMultiple sources are reporting that Gonzaga 7-footer Zach Collins is contemplating making the jump to the NBA after one season with the Bulldogs. He would be the first one-and-done for the Zags. He has huge potential, but only averaged 10 points in the WCC.Colin talked to several scouts who told him that Collins would likely be a late lottery pick, but would spend a considerable amount of time gaining game experience in the D-League.Colin doesn’t understand why he would choose riding buses through the various D-League ghost towns, when he could wait a year, stay in the superior environment of Gonzaga, dominate, and make more money in a weaker draft.Another year in Spokane beats taking buses to Bakersfield.“If you’re not ready emotionally and physically for this league, it will eat you alive.”Guests:Chris Broussard – FS1 NBA Insider is in-studio to discuss why the Mavericks can’t land free agents; if the Western Conference is as overrated as Colin says it is; and why the Cavs have definitely underachieved this year.Jason McIntyre – Founder of TheBigLead.com and co-host of Speak for Yourself is in-studio to talk the Nets sitting starters in their last game; if LeBron should have different rules; and why the Cavs are going to get rolled by the Warriors in the Finals.Phil Savage – Senior Bowl Executive Director and former Browns GM joins the show to talk NFL Draft; his take on the quarterbacks; why he would choose Watson over Trubisky; and if alabama wears out their players before they get to the NFL. read more
Take control of file copy jobs with Total Copier for Windows by Martin Brinkmann on May 15, 2017 in Software – Last Update: May 22, 2018 – 13 commentsTotal Copier is a free program for Microsoft Windows devices that gives you more control over file copy jobs on the operating system.Copy jobs using built-in functionality on Windows PCs can be quite frustrating. There is no queue or batch functionality, jobs slow down to a crawl if you run more than one, there is no error log right away to find out which files did not copy correctly, and you cannot pause jobs, and those are just some of the issues that users may experience.Third-party programs like TeraCopy, FastCopy, Rich Copy, or Talent Copy V are just some that improve the process in one way or the other.Total CopierTotal Copier is another program designed to improve copy processes on Windows. The free program does so in a number of ways.Note: you may get a SmartScreen Filter popup during installation. If that is the case, click on the more info link and then on run anyway to continue with the installation.Total Copier registers itself as the program to use when it comes to file copy jobs on Windows. It limits itself to copy jobs from one drive to another, and won’t do anything if you copy files to a different location on the same drive. If you copy files or folders to another drive, its copying window is shown instead of the default Windows copy dialog window. The program generates the file list first, and will then copy the files to the destination. The dialog offers more options than the Windows dialog: you find options to pause and resume the job there for instance, and may check the pending, completed and erroneous jobs with a click on the down arrow icon in the interface. This extended interface features a search as well to find files quickly, and options to change the sort order. The latter can be useful to move files up or down the priority ladder.Depending on how you configure the program, you may add new jobs to the existing job while it is running. Total Copier keeps a log of all jobs for record keeping. The program ships with a handful of extra options that you may find useful. First, it features an auto-resume feature that is designed to pick up copy jobs right where they stopped the last time. If the computer crashes during a job for instance, or if the Total Copier process is terminated, this feature will start the running copy job on the next start of the application automatically.Another option that Total Copier ships with is to add running jobs to the pending list. This saves them there basically, so that you can resume them at a later point in time. You find additional options to tweak the copy job in the settings. There you may change rename rules for old and new files, may change the buffer size, and configure the program to shut down, hibernate or sleep the PC after a job completes.Multi-Clipboard is another feature that Total Copier ships with. It allows you to keep nine records in the Windows Clipboard instead of just one, and use shortcuts to save and paste the entries.VerdictTotal Copier took a long time to start copy jobs. I tested this on three machines, two running Windows 10, and one Windows 7, and it took way too long on all of them. I won’t go as far as suggesting that this is a general problem with the latest version, but it sure looks like it.Even adding just one or two files would have the program sit idly at “generating list” for minutes. The functionality that Total Copier provides is quite good though. It is unusable on the machines I tested it on, which is unfortunate. Now You: How do you copy files on Windows?Summary12345 Author Rating4.5 based on 30 votes Software Name Total CopierOperating System WindowsSoftware Category ProductivityLanding Page http://www.softyour.com/ Advertisement read more

A survey released Tuesday by Wells Fargo indicated that owning a home is still important to the majority of Americans.Wells Fargo’s third annual “How America Views Homeownership” survey found that 93 percent of those polled believe homeownership is an achievement to be proud of, 86 percent say owning a home is a dream come true, and 74 percent of respondents said they believe now is a good time to buy a home.“Wells Fargo believes it’s important to take time to engage in a collaborative, national dialogue about how lenders and the housing industry best serve a wide range of qualified customers, how our commitment to doing so will impact communities and our country as a whole, and what questions we should address together about responsibly enabling sustainable homeownership,” said Franklin Codel, Head of Wells Fargo Home Lending. As for the growing sentiment in the mortgage industry that millennials are not interested in homeownership, the survey results seem to indicate the contrary. According to the survey, 40 percent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 34 said they “definitely will” or “probably will” buy a home in the next two years, which was nearly double the percentage of the general population (22 percent) that plans to become homeowners over the same period.Survey respondents said they believe that homebuyers should know what they are getting into, however; 91 percent of respondents said they believe the homebuying process should be thorough enough that borrowers know what they are getting into. Almost the same share (90 percent) said they believe that they buyer should have to prove they can afford a loan. The top three factors preventing homeownership, according to the survey, were not being able to save money for a down payment (23 percent of respondents), not wanting to make a long-term commitment (20 percent), and not a good enough existing credit rating (17 percent). While the majority of respondents viewed owning a home as a dream come true, at the same time, more than three-quarters of those polled (78 percent) agreed that “Having to go through the homebuying process is a hassle.”Ipsos Public Affairs conducted the study of 3,400 survey respondents during May 2016, according to Wells Fargo. The government on Tuesday said it was still awaiting a ‘complete’ official response from Washington regarding the presence of a US warship in Cyprus’ economic waters a day earlier.Government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides said that in the meantime Nicosia has been told by both the US State Department and the Pentagon that the US government did not ask for any Navtex – or navigational warning – to be issued for the ship in question.“At the same time, several US ships are operating in the area due to the developments there, particularly in Syria. We expect a more specific and fuller briefing from the Americans by the end of the day,” the spokesman told reporters coming out of the National Council meeting held at the presidential palace.Earlier in the day, director of the president’s office Michalis Sofocleous told the state broadcaster: “The only working theory – and it is only a theory – is that the Turks learned about the operations of the US warship in the area, and unilaterally issued a Navtex. The US government never asked Turkey to issue such an advisory.”Last Friday, Turkish authorities issued a Navtex advising mariners of the presence of a US warship in a reserved area covering parts of blocks 5 and 6 of Cyprus’ EEZ, to the southwest of Paphos and in international waters. The northern segment of Cyprus’ block 6 falls within what Turkey claims is part of its continental shelf.According to the Turkish advisory (Navtex 746/17), the US warship would be towing an underwater device from 15:00 to 20:59 (UTC) on Monday, July 31.This led to some speculation here as to whether the US had placed one of its ships under a Turkish Navtex within the Search and Rescue (SAR) Area of Responsibility of Cyprus.Government sources told the Cyprus Mail that the Americans have confirmed to Nicosia the presence and operations of the US warship on Monday. But the Americans never requested the issuing of a marine advisory.“Their ship was operating in international waters. Moreover, it was not interfering with navigation, thus there was no requirement to issue any marine advisory. This type of thing occurs all the time,” the sources said.Had the operations interfered with navigation, the procedure would have been for the US government to request the competent jurisdiction to issue a marine advisory. The competent jurisdiction in this case would be Cyprus, since the ship was operating within Cyprus’ SAR Area of Responsibility. The same sources also said the Americans made it clear this was not a case of a joint US-Turkey drill.“It was only one ship, the American ship.”What appears to have happened, the sources said, is that Turkey issued the otherwise unnecessary Navtex as a political statement – to emphasise that the area in question is under their SAR jurisdiction. This is a common practice by Turkey, which does not recognise the Republic of Cyprus. The US State Department was expected to make a statement on the issue during Tuesday’s press briefing, scheduled for 2pm (9pm Cyprus time). You May LikeFigLeaf Beta AppHow to Become Fully Anonymous Online in Less Than 3 Minutes?
