At Fairmont Peace Hotel Shanghai, GM George Wee is employing a savvy means of combating a growing preference to shop overseas and online: by showing limited-edition watches, displayed on a one-to-one basis, to guests in the comfort of their rooms. The inroom showcase is set to be particularly popular in the hotel’s Nine Nations suites, which were redesigned in 2010 in honour of the hotel’s founder, Victor Sassoon.The Shanghai luxury hotel features 270 guestrooms and 39 luxurious suites, which blend Art Deco-inspired furnishings with modern amenities. The Fairmont Gold executive floor includes private check-in, lounge access, continental breakfast and afternoon canapés.Fairmont expands in Mexico, Morocco & Saudi ArabiaIn other Fairmont Hotel news, the hotel operator and Mota-Engil Tourismo has announced the development of a new 250-room luxury hotel and additional private residences along the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico. The sparkling new Fairmont Costa Canuva is slated to open in late 2018 and will reside within the new master-planned seaside community, COSTA CANUVA, on the Riviera Nayarit. The Costa Canuva development is set along kilometres of pristine beach, just north of Punta Mita and approximately 64 kilometres north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport.In addition, Fairmont has announced the signing of two new luxury hotel developments in Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
